Seminar under the auspices of the State Control Committee of Belarus

Seminar on preparation for mutual evaluation of the system for combating the legalization (laundering) of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism.

On April 10-13, 2018, the International Training Center on migration and combating trafficking in human beings of the educational institution "The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus" hosted a Seminar under the auspices of the State Control Committee of Belarus on preparation the Republic of Belarus for the second round of mutual evaluation of the system for combating the legalization (laundering) of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism.

The event was attended by representatives of state bodies and the private sector of the Republic of Belarus, including the Financial Investigation and Financial Monitoring Departments of the State Control Committee, the Supreme Court, the Investigative Committee, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Committee, the State Border Committee, the State Customs Committee, Ministries of Finance, Taxes and Duties, Justice, Communications and Information, Antimonopoly Regulation and the State Property Committee, the National Bank, the Belarusian Chamber of Notaries and other institutions.

The seminar was also attended by the Executive Secretary of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG) Vladimir Nechaev. The Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (EAG) was established in 2004 and is currently an associate member of the Financial Action Task Force against Money Laundering (FATF). EAG is called upon to play an important role in reducing the threat of international terrorism and ensuring the transparency, reliability and security of the financial systems of states and their further integration into the international infrastructure to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism. Today the EAG unites nine countries: Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Observer status is granted to 15 countries and 20 international organizations.
