Training on psycho-physiological studies using a polygraph for the officers of specialized law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Azerbaijan began at the International Training Center on migration and combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the educational establishment “The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus”.
The purpose of this training is to form a system of knowledge on psycho-physiological, scientific and methodological foundations of conducting studies using polygraph devices; to develop skills of using polygraph for crime investigation and personnel (screening) checks and other service tasks.
What is a polygraph? This is a complex and high-tech device which can register a variety of physiological parameters: heart rate and respiration rate, blood pressure, skin-galvanic reaction and so on. Polygraph is used today to solve a variety of tasks. It is used in law enforcement to identify persons involved in the commission of crimes. Based on the results of the survey, an expert opinion is drawn up. One of the directions in using polygraph is the study of candidates for certain positions. The smart device helps to identify the moral and psychological qualities of personnel and to recognize those persons who potentially can be part of the so-called "risk groups". Thus, the use of a polygraph ensures the prevention of offenses or crimes that may be committed by persons of certain categories, performing work duties or at the workplace.
